In Memory of Dr. Takashi Hattori
Dr. Takashi Hattori devoted over 40 years of service to the Pacific Grove Hyperbaric Chamber, helping more than 375 patients, all on a voluntary basis, and earning him the nickname "Dive Doc." A longtime resident of the Monterey Peninsula, Tak's leadership and can-do attitude were responsible for bringing online the large chamber that is still in use today including its recent revitalization. His selfless devotion to this community and his warm smile will be remembered by all those he touched over the years. To honor his legacy, his family has asked that donations be made to the Pacific Grove Hyperbaric Chamber fund, managed by the California Marine Sanctuary Foundation.

Statewide MPA Initiative
As of 2014, contributing organizations have created and installed approximately 184 regulatory signs and 45 marine protected areas interpretive panels spanning the California coast. Building upon this momentum, CMSF is working with State agencies, including the Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Ocean Protection Council, to fill statewide MPA signage needs.
