KATIE SIEGLER

Urban Water Quality Program Coordinator

Katie Siegler coordinates the urban water quality monitoring events that take place each year around the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Working with volunteers on events like Snapshot Day and First Flush, valuable data is collected and synthesized to assess the health of the waters flowing into the Sanctuary. She works with municipalities to understand sources and types of pollution, with the goal of guiding efforts to improve water quality.

Prior to this role, Katie worked at the Granite Canyon Marine Pollution Studies Laboratory. She participated in numerous studies of urban and agricultural runoff, and focused on statewide water quality trends through California's Stream Pollution Trends Monitoring Program. Katie holds a BA in Environmental Studies from UC Santa Cruz and an MS in Environmental Science and Management from UC Santa Barbara.
