Urban Watch Water Quality Monitoring Program
Urban Watch is a dry-weather monitoring program focused on urban runoff from storm drain outfalls that flow to local lakes, streams and the ocean. Volunteer teams meet monthly to test storm drain flows for detergents, ammonia, phosphate, E. coli, temperature, conductivity and pH. Urban Watch volunteers have detected illicit discharges of detergents, chlorine, paint, sediment and trash. With Urban Watch data local cities have identified and implemented targeted educational programs aimed at addressing common urban pollutants.
Your donation will help to purchase field equipment, reagents and lab analysis for a new city in an effort to determine the concentration of common urban pollutants flowing from coastal cities into Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary.
