Snapshot Day Water Quality Monitoring Program

Snapshot Day is an annual water quality monitoring program focused on creeks and rivers that flow into Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Volunteers in Santa Mateo, Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Luis Obispo Counties participate in Snapshot Day by monitoring 150 assigned creek and river sites for nitrate, phosphate, E. coli, temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, conductivity and water clarity. Snapshot Day is designed to increase awareness about water quality issues as well as collect scientifically valid data that will help resource managers to make informed decisions about local watersheds.  Snapshot Day has been held on the first Saturday in May since 2000.

Your donation will help to pay for lab analysis, volunteer training, purchase of field equipment for monitoring sites or provide funds for trend analysis.
